What most HR, sales, marketing & PR resumes look like
- Professional summary reads "Results-driven marketing professional with 5+ years of experience in brand management and digital marketing"
- Sales bullets say "Responsible for managing key accounts and achieving sales targets" - zero revenue numbers, zero quota attainment percentages
- Marketing bullets say "Managed social media channels and created content" - no follower growth, no engagement rates, no leads generated
- HR bullets say "Conducted recruitment for various departments" - no hires made, no time-to-fill, no cost-per-hire, no retention rates
- Resume tries to be everything - generalist positioning that speaks to no specific role or function clearly
- Cover letter is a template that starts with "I am writing to express my interest in the position of..."
- Skills section lists "Strong interpersonal and communication skills" - the exact phrase you'd reject on someone else's resume
- Submitted to ATS - generic keywords don't match the specific role - filtered out before a human ever reads it
